When W Budapest contacted me regarding the event, I immediately knew that it was a project that I would thoroughly enjoy.
As a wedding designer, I like to play with colors and bold concepts, but weddings are usually not the events where I can fully show off my ability. Thus I was excited to work in the colorful, yet classic interior of W Budapest.
The tagline of the brand, as a “bold duality”, is what I can completely align with the visions of Blush Wedding Decor as well.
During the desiging process I was sure that I wanted to use bold and loud colors. That’s why I reached for the complementary colors of blue and green, namely red. However, I wanted the rest of the elements, to be more monochromatic, to be consistent with the room’s wall colour.
We also decorated the foyer, which is located next to the blue aka Great Room. It has spectacular green walls, therefor we had to create the decoration in such way that the two spaces are connected, yet emphasize the uniqueness of both. This harmony was achieved by keeping the color red in both rooms and in the foyer we made the flower decoration similar to the indoor table.
The pomegranate and the gold foil also appeared in this bold wedding design. I chose the pomegranate as the main motif of the decoration, on the one hand, because of its ruby red seeds, and also because of its ancient symbolism, as it symbolizes both abundance and marriage.
I really like weaving in symbolical elements into the decorations that the guests may not necessarily notice in the first place, but unconsciously it’s still there, telling the story of the concept. To emphasize the exclusivity of this prominent location and Daalarna’s new exclusive collection line, gold foil and pearls were inserted into the decoration. These are classic elements of splendor and luxury. And the latter often appears on wedding dresses and accessories as well.
During the preparation of the decoration, we made sure that every detail was cohesive with the final vision.
I didn’t want anything to destroy the harmony of the color palette, therefor the pistils of all 160 Anthurium flowers -which are originally yellow – were painted red by hand, by my team.
Furthermore, 100 stems of white hydrangeas were also individually spraypainted to red.
Every detail whispered quality; the table was set with hand-made crystal glasses. I contrasted the delicate fragility of the crystal glasses with the raw texture of the travertine stones placed under the fruits.
We made the table even more interesting with a textured tablecloth bespoke made for this event. The special feature of this is that it is not made of traditional tablecloth material, but of foiled fake fur, that is usually used for making coats.
My goal was to design to design a wedding decoration that fits the hotel spaces, represents a bold and luxurious attitude, and is not afraid to go against public taste. I think we have completely succeeded in creating this.
